This blog is dedicated to examining issues regarding the rise of anti-science in the USA. Anti-science comes in many forms (creationism, intelligent design, mysticism etc). Intelligent design and her half-sister, young earth creationism are particularly active in attempting to destroy modern science in favor of a theocratic educational system. The views on this page are mine and mine alone and do not reflect the views of my employer, my family or the worms in the backyard.

From what I just read in the Independent Alligator, it doesn't seem like Machen is anywhere near knowing what to do. He is going to report to the Faculty Senate on Friday, but not release his budget considerations to the Trustees until later in the month.
So, what will happen to those who need a 45 day notification? Do they need to be out by July 1st or is this going to drag on?
Although I wouldn't mind if UF never followed through on the cuts, they are coming. The anxiety is getting to the point of being unbearable.
UF trustees vote Tuesday on budgetUniversity of Florida trustees will vote Tuesday on a budget that is expected to include more than $42 million in cuts.
The Board of Trustees will hold a conference call for the vote. Details of the budget are expected to be released publicly Friday.
UF President Bernie Machen announced last week that more than 150 faculty and staff positions would be eliminated as part of cuts.
The positions are either unfilled or expected to be open through retirements and departures. Machen said the budget plan would include a fewer number of layoffs and the elimination of a handful of programs.
Is there anymore news. I am student at SFC, planning to apply to UFL Geological Science next year. Has anything been determined, is geology safe?
Don't worry. The final plan came out, and Geological Sciences was not cut.
